DAY 1: URFA- MUSEUM-GÖBEKLİTEPE
We start the tour with our guide who welcomes us. Our first stop is Göbeklitepe, one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in human history, dating back 12,000 years, which profoundly shakes the known facts of written history and is believed to be the first pilgrimage center. "Göbeklitepe, one of the oldest temples known to date as a result of the studies conducted so far, is located in the Mesopotamian region. Göbeklitepe provides important data regarding religious beliefs in hunter-gatherer societies. We will discuss Göbeklitepe architecturally as well as socio-economically; it will enlighten us about how the people of that era could establish a sacred space to experience their groundbreaking beliefs, as well as their religious symbols, technologies, and sciences. After completing our visit to Göbeklitepe, we head to the center and start exploring HALIL-ÜR RAHMAN MOSQUE – AYN ZELİHA (BALIKLI GÖL) – RIZVANİYE MOSQUE and the cave where Hz. Ibrahim was born, Sipahi Bazaar, Kazzaz Bazaar, Hacı Kamil Inn, Hüseyiniye Bazaar, Naccar Bazaar, Historical Customs Inn, Ulucami and Kitchen Museum, visiting and exploring, followed by a visit to the archaeology museum and the mosaic museum, after which we will move to Harran. Here, we will visit the conical-roofed earthen houses of Harran, the ancient ruins of Harran University, considered the first Islamic university in the world, the historical Harran Castle, which dates back to when Harran was the capital of the Umayyads, and the Harran walls surrounding the area, ending our tour with a visit to the tomb of the famous sheikh Hayat el-Harrani. After that, we will proceed to our hotel to enjoy a night filled with entertainment and later rest to prepare for the next day.
DAY 2: HALFETİ-GAZİANTEP:
After breakfast at the hotel, we head towards HALFETİ.
We will make an effort to get to know Halfeti, which the Assyrians called Shitamrat. One of Halfeti’s other features is that it is the only place in the world where black roses can grow. We will take a boat tour to see Rum Kale, which contains the remains of structures such as the Church of Saint Nerses, the Barşavma Monastery, and water cisterns, where Saint Paul, the apostle of Jesus, is said to have preached. After crossing the suspension bridge, we will start exploring Gaziantep. Our first stop here is the GAZIANTEP ZEUGMA MOSAIC MUSEUM to see the mosaics unearthed from Zeugma (Belkıs). We will visit the Antep Castle and the panoramic time tunnel of the Antep liberation war, followed by a tour of historical places such as the Historical Copper Bazaar, Historical Zincirli Bedesten, Historical Tahmis Coffeehouse, Customs Inn, Gaziantep Bath Museum before concluding our tour and bidding farewell to our guests heading to Konya.
