DAY 1: GAZIANTEP - HALFETI:
After meeting our guide at GAZIANTEP Airport, we board our vehicle and enjoy our breakfast prepared with local delicacies (extra). We start exploring Gaziantep. Our first stop is the GAZIANTEP ZEUGMA MOSAIC MUSEUM to see the mosaics extracted from Zeugma (Belkıs). We then visit Antep Castle, the panoramic time tunnel of the Antep War of Independence, and the historical Copper Bazaar, Historical Zincirli Bedesten, Historical Tahmis Coffee House, Customs Han, Gaziantep Hammam Museum before moving on to Halfeti. We'll try to get to know Halfeti, which the Assyrians called Shitamrat. Another feature of Halfeti is that it is the only place in the world where the black rose can grow. We will take a boat trip to see the remains of Rum Kale, where St. Paul multiplied the Bible, and structures like water cisterns. After crossing the suspension bridge, we check-in at our hotel in Urfa.
DAY 2: ŞANLIURFA - GÖBEKLİTEPE HISTORICAL MARKETS MUSEUMS
After breakfast at our hotel, we move to Göbeklitepe. Following this, the road will take us to Göbeklitepe, one of the most important archaeological discoveries in human history, dating back 12,000 years and believed to be the first pilgrimage site, fundamentally challenging the principles of known written history. Göbeklitepe offers significant data regarding religious beliefs among hunter-gatherer societies. This site, which we will discuss architecturally and socio-economically, enlightens us about the sacred spaces that people of that era created to experience their groundbreaking beliefs, along with their religious symbols, technology, and sciences. Then we arrive in Urfa center to visit HALIL-UR RAHMAN MOSQUE – AYN ZELİHA (BALIKLI GÖL) – RIZVANİYE MOSQUE , and the cave where Hz. Ibrahim was born, Sipahi Bazaar, Kazzaz Bazaar, Hacı Kamil Inn, Hüseyiniye Bazaar, Naccar Bazaar, Historical Customs Inn, Great Mosque and Kitchen Museum before proceeding to visit the archaeology museum and mosaic museum, after which we return to our hotel.
DAY 3: BEYAZSU - DARA - MIDYAT
After breakfast at our hotel, we board our vehicle with our waiting guide and head to Beyazsu for a refreshing stop, then we proceed to Dara, known as the Ephesus of Mesopotamia. In this ancient city on the Silk Road, we will explore the remains of the world's first water dam, the ancient structures such asAchaemenid god Ahura Mazda's fire towers, castle (Daras Anastasiupolis), church, bridge, water channels, water cisterns, arcade, rock tombs, and remnants of residential buildings. Interactions with the local people will showcase the nuances of Mesopotamian hospitality. Next, we travel to Midyat, where we will have free time at the Telkari market, known for the region's exquisite handicrafts. Later, we reach the guesthouse terrace, which has hosted many TV series, and take beautiful photographs, capturing the different views with local yellow-cut stone architecture. After visiting the Monastery of Mor Gabriel, known as DEYRULUMUR, we will later visit the Mor Behrem Kırklar Church. After receiving information from the church officer, we head to our hotel in Midyat.
DAY 4: MARDIN (center)
After breakfast at our hotel, we board our vehicle with our waiting guide and begin to explore the museum city of Mardin. Our first stop is Mor Behrem Kırklar Church. After receiving information from the church officer, we will have a walk through the narrow streets of Mardin to see Mardin Museum, Latifiye Mosque and one of the most important structures in the region, Ulu Mosque, which we photograph. We then visit the PTT building, which has been featured in many series and films, and the Şehidiye Mosque and Medrese. After passing through the Arches, which are symbols of Mardin, we board our vehicle and reach the Kasımiye Medrese. Known for being a university-level institution during the Seljuk period, we will learn about the courtyard philosophy in the extraordinary architecture of the Southeast culture before heading to Deyrulzafaran Monastery, which was the center of the Syriac people until 1932. After learning about the monastery, we return to our hotel in Mardin for rest.
DAY 5: DIARBAKIR
After breakfast, we start exploring Diyarbakir. We see the famous On Gözlü (Ten-Eyed) Bridge and the historical walls, and then the Tigris River greets us... We visit the Historical Diyarbakır Walls, considered the longest walls in the world after the Great Wall of China, from the Keçi Burcu, and view the Tigris River, Gazi Mansion, Hevsel gardens, and the On Gözlü Bridge... We take a look at the historical Hasan Paşa Inn and visit the Diyarbakır Ulu Mosque, regarded as the 5th holiest site in Islam. We also visit or at least glance at the house of Ziya Gökalp and the homes of Ahmet Arif and Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı, which are some of the historical houses in Diyarbakir. We stop by Hz. Suleyman Mosque, the resting place of the son of Halit bin Velid, where 27 sahabah are buried, and without entering, we show the garden of the famous Diyarbakır Prison, now a museum, before ending this culture-rich and informative tour as we drop off our guests at the airport.
