Important information
The tour lasts a total of 6 nights and 7 days; accommodations are usually in hotels or mountain guesthouses in the highlands of the Black Sea, with one night in Batumi or its surroundings: Since the total duration of the tour is 6 nights and 7 days, guests have the opportunity to experience both the cool nature of the Black Sea highlands and the different cultural atmosphere of Batumi. As the accommodations are mostly in mountain guesthouses or local hotels, the standards and amenities of the rooms may be simpler and more integrated with nature compared to city hotels; this is particularly advantageous for those seeking tranquility, clean air, and an authentic environment.
A valid passport or new type chip ID card is required to cross into Batumi; if there are damages, photo deficiencies, or name-marriage changes on the IDs, they must be renewed in advance: To avoid issues at the border crossing, your passport or ID card must be valid, your photo must be up-to-date, and the document must not be physically worn out. If your identity information has not been updated following marriage, divorce, or name changes, the passage may be denied; therefore, it is strongly recommended to obtain a new ID from the civil registry before the tour.
The tour program includes highlands such as Ayder, Uzungöl, Huser, Pokut-Sal, and Elevit, along with activities in the Fırtına Valley (zipline, rafting, etc.), which may be changed or canceled by the guide depending on weather conditions and road status: The Black Sea region is prone to sudden weather changes throughout the year, making it possible that some highlands may be inaccessible due to fog, heavy rain, landslide risks, or road closures, which may require changes in the program. Similarly, nature activities in the Fırtına Valley, such as ziplining and rafting, may be postponed, changed to another activity, or completely canceled for safety reasons at the guide's discretion; in such cases, the tour guide will inform you about alternatives.
Guests participating in the tour are recommended to bring comfortable shoes suitable for walking, a raincoat/jacket, layered clothing, and possibly a small backpack for changeable and cool highland weather: As the terrain in the highlands may be uneven, stony, or muddy, comfortable hiking shoes that support the ankle are crucial for safety and comfort. Since the weather in the Black Sea region can rapidly change from sunny to rainy to foggy within a day, wearing layered clothing, a raincoat/jacket, and having a small backpack for easily carrying essentials such as water, snacks, and spare socks can help you stay dry.
Some lunch meals in the program are extra and payments for local menus (mıhlama, black cabbage soup, trout, etc.) are generally taken in cash; it is important to have sufficient Turkish Lira since cards may not be accepted in the highlands: For lunches not included in the tour fee, when you visit restaurants or highland establishments to try the region's famous delicacies, you are often asked to pay the bill in cash. Especially at higher altitudes, POS devices may be unavailable or have poor internet connectivity, making credit card payment impossible; therefore, it is essential to carry sufficient amounts of Turkish Lira in small bills.
In Batumi, expenses are made in the Georgian currency Lari (GEL); border crossing fees, foreign exit taxes, entry fees for museums/archaeological sites, and some optional activities may not be included in the tour fee; the list of included and excluded services should be examined carefully before booking: When shopping, eating, or engaging in extra excursions in Batumi, it is generally advisable to use the local currency Lari; although cash or cards may be accepted in some places for smaller expenses, it is practical to have some Lari on hand. Additionally, by carefully reviewing the services stated as "included" and "excluded" in the tour brochure, you can plan in advance how much additional budget you should allocate for border crossing expenses, museum/archaeological site entry fees, optional tours, and personal expenses.
