Together with your guide, we begin getting to know Mardin. Our first stop here is Dara, known as the Ephesus of Mesopotamia. In this ancient city on the Silk Road, we will examine the remains of the world's first water dam, the fire towers built when the Achaemenids worshipped their god Ahura Mazda, the castle (Daras Anastasiupolis), the church, the bridge, the water channels, the water cisterns, the arasta, the rock tombs and the remains of civil residential buildings. While exploring them, the interactions we will have with the local people and the contests to offer us the finer points of Mesopotamian hospitality will once again prove how strong tolerance and love are in the region. After leaving here, we head to Beyaz Su for lunch. We move toward the center of Mardin and reach our first stop, the Kasımiye Madrasa. Then, on a walk through the narrow streets of Mardin, we see and photograph the Mardin Museum, the Latifiye Mosque, and the Great Mosque (Ulu Camii), one of the most important structures in the region. Next we pass the PTT building, which has hosted many TV series and films, and after our visit to the Zinciriye Madrasa, we walk past the Abbara towers, one of the symbols of Mardin, board our vehicle and set off toward Şanlıurfa.
